Diffusion Pharmaceuticals (DFFN)

Shares of Diffusion Pharmaceuticals were up 91.5%, or $2.82 on the day ahead of a capital raise.  The expected new capital is expected to fund the advancement of lead candidate trans sodium crocetinate (TSC) for the treatment of strokes and cancers.

At the moment, the company is conducting Phase 3 INTACT clinical trials.  The trial is anticipated to screen 300 patients with inoperable glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and enroll 264 such that results from 236 patients will be available for analysis. Following a dose-escalation run-in period, in which eight patients will receive ascending doses of TSC along with temozolimid (TMZ) for two 28-day cycles, patients will be randomized 1:1 to receive TSC along with standard of care radiation therapy (RT) and chemotherapy (TMZ) or standard of care alone.

FTD Companies Inc. (FTD)

Shares of FTD are up 46.6% on the day, or 32 cents.  Volume for the day was up to 4.167 million as compared to daily average volume of 309,844 on no news.

Digimarc Corporation (DMRC)

Shares of DMRC are up 44.8% on the day, or $14.82 a share to $47.92.

Revenue in the first quarter was $5.7 million, ahead of estimates for $5.4 million in sales. At the same time, it posted a net loss of $8.5 million, or $0.74 per share, slightly worse than the net loss of $0.72 per share that analysts were expecting.  The company also announced a new partnership with Walmart where DMRC will help improve the management of packaged fresh foods in an effort to reduce food waste, increase efficiency, and cut costs in order to preserve low prices.
